I grew up around small businesses and real estate. My parents owned a car wash / laundromat, and a few rentals. I spent weekends hustling carwash flyers around town with my dad and brothers, and hauling bags of coins we rolled (yes, a 90’s kid) to the bank with my dad and brothers after long days at the car wash / laundromat. I also remember depositing rent checks, visiting tenants and other tasks, small tasks that gave me an early view of how real estate and business worked.
I began my accounting career in Big 4 audit and tax, working within a family office/private client group where I gained deep experience with closely held companies and real estate clients. From there, I moved into industry roles; assistant controller, FP&A, and leading a distributed accounting team; delivering on tight deadlines like a 3-day close. Along the way, I had the privilege of working across Big 4 (nominated for Apprentice of the Year), a Fortune 125 company, and private equity–backed businesses.
Even later in life, I’ve stayed involved in my parents’ real estate ventures, including helping manage their short-term rentals and the 24-site RV park they built from scratch. It was great seeing my dad put his time into building out the park site and my mom actively involved in the finer details like the website and getting an additional onsite camper ready for AirBnB as a part of the park.
Before my accounting career, I was a high school Spanish teacher, and teaching remains a real passion of mine. I bring that same mindset to my work with clients: making complex financial and tax concepts understandable, so owners feel informed, confident, and empowered to make strategic decisions.
While I’ve always enjoyed a good Tax Court case and the satisfaction of a balanced balance sheet, what I’m most passionate about is giving owners confidence in their numbers, space to think strategically, and the freedom to focus on growth instead of scrambling.
